CEB launches Cycle of Science Webinars, free and open to the entire population

iCEBreak is the name of this initiative of the Centre of Biological Engineering that aims to bring to the general public the main results of the research carried out in this centre that is one of the largest scientific units of UMinho.

It’s 30 minutes dedicated to sharing knowledge about science and technology. The iCEBreak is the most recent initiative of the Centre of Biological Engineering, takes place online and will bring together researchers, students and the general public to discuss current issues related to the work that has been developed in this entity. Lasting 30 minutes and biweekly, the sessions are free, in English, and take place on Thursdays, at 12:00 pm, via Zoom.

All initiatives will have an associated theme, and there will also be the opportunity to present some ongoing research projects at the Center for Biological Engineering at the University of Minho, followed by a debate.

The first webinar is scheduled for April 29th, between 12h00 and 12h30, with the topic “Zooming and Bridging CEB – linking life and technology to shape the future”. The speaker will be Madalena Alves, CEB Director and Researcher. The events will be broadcast online using the Zoom plataform, but can also be followed on the Centre’s Social Networks, namely on Facebook and YouTube.

The goal is to go beyond the scientific and academic community and reach a wider audience, including professionals from companies and entities that may establish partnerships with the CEB, students who wish to pursue a scientific career or other research centers. On the other hand, these initiatives also aim to show citizens the best of what is done in science and scientific research in Portugal, providing information on specific results and areas of activity.
