The University of Minho has seen the quality of its research recognized, after the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) announced the provisional results of the evaluation of national R&D Units. Of UMinho’s 31 School/Institute Units, 84% are now classified as “Excellent” (13) and “Very Good” (13); these units are home to 94% of the Institution’s researchers.
The evaluation took into account the scientific and technological activities carried out by the research centers between 2018 and 2023 and also considered the objectives, strategy, activity plan and organization of those centers for the period 2025 to 2029. In Portugal, 336 R&D units in different areas of knowledge were analyzed by 315 foreign evaluators.
“The results are overall very positive for UMinho, confirming the impact of the work of our teachers and researchers,” says the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Sandra Paiva.
