An article by researcher Filipe Alvelos was awarded the Isabel Themido 2025 Prize for the best article published by members of the Portuguese Operational Research Association (APDIO) in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Together with André Bergsten, from the University of São Paulo, the researcher from the ALGORITMI Centre, Department of Production and Systems at the University of Minho, saw his work recognised with this award.

The article, entitled ‘Iterated local search for the placement of wildland fire suppression resources’, was published in the European Journal of Operational Research. Filipe Alvelos received the award at the 24th APDIO Congress, held in Amarante from 7 to 9 September 2025.
