As part of the celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the DPS, on September 25th, IDEATHON began, an initiative that places students and companies at the center of a challenge of innovation, collaboration and solving real problems.
The opening session was attended by the Director of the DPS, Paulo Sampaio, and the President of NEEGIUM/LG Minho, Francisca Oliveira, who officially started a 24-hour journey marked by intensity, creativity and team spirit.
Nélson Costa opened the working session: six companies — Gestamp, Carclasse, Ferreira de Sá Rugs, Caetano Aeronautic, VITRUS AMBIENTE and Mundotêxtil — presented 9 concrete challenges, inspired by the business reality.
The response was immediate: more than 100 students from the DPS courses accepted the challenge, forming multidisciplinary teams with students from the Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (LEGI), Master in Engineering and Data Science (MECD), Master in Industrial Engineering and Management (MEGI), Master in Engineering and Operations Management (MEGO), Master in Engineering and Quality Management (MEGQ), Master in Human Engineering (MEH), Master in Systems Engineering (MES), Master in Engineering Project Management (MGPE) and Doctoral Program in Industrial and Systems Engineering (PDEIS).
From then on, a real marathon of work began. The teams analysed problems, developed ideas and built proposals, with the monitoring and mentoring of the participating companies.
The work lasted beyond the usual hours, revealing the enormous motivation, dedication and spirit of collaboration of the students.
More than a competition, IDEATHON is an applied learning experience, bringing students closer to the professional reality and creating a bridge between academia and the business community.
The winning teams received a prize of €500 per team, to which was added a prize of €750 associated with IDEATHON.
9 challenges. More than 100 students. 24 hours of work. A bridge between knowledge and business reality.
Congratulations to all teams for their commitment, dedication, creativity and ability to transform challenges into concrete proposals.
A special thanks to the companies for their trust, for the challenges launched and for the fundamental contribution to this experience of learning, innovation and approach to the professional reality.
