On 24 November, the 2C2T – Centre for Textile Science and Technology took office, with Andrea Zille renewing her management position alongside deputy director André Catarino.
The ceremony took place in the 2C2T Meeting Room and was attended by many members of this EEUM R&D centre, as well as the vice-presidents of the School of Engineering, Professors Joana Cunha and Hélder Puga.
In her inauguration speech, Andrea Zille expressed her gratitude for ‘the trust placed in me and André to lead for another three years. We have several challenges ahead, but above all, I think it would be good to talk about the positive developments that are taking place. The Shanghai ranking will be released soon. This week, we are the top university in Europe in this field, so we are doing well and must continue to grow.’
He added, ‘I think we have to continue on this path of excellence. So, thank you to all of you who are part of the Centre, the backbone of this. Thank you.’
For his part, the President of the School of Engineering, Professor António Vicente, thanked the management team for their availability: ‘And my first words are always of gratitude for the work you have done so far and especially for your willingness to continue doing this work.’ He continued his speech by reinforcing the intention and commitment of the EEUM Presidency to resolve problems related to physical infrastructure, reporting these same problems to the competent bodies.
The School of Engineering wishes the 2C2T management team a term full of achievements.
