Rui Lima honoured with the Teaching Merit Award

Rui Lima honoured with the Teaching Merit Award

For the first time, the University of Minho has awarded the Teaching Merit Prize to Rui Lima, a professor at the School of Engineering. The award was announced at the institution’s 51st anniversary ceremony, held on 17 February. This annual award aims to recognise a teacher or researcher for the quality and innovation of their teaching activity, the transformative impact on their students and the positive repercussions of their activity among the teaching staff and the academic community.

‘It’s a team recognition, very much centred on the projects we do with students, linked to professional practice,’ the lecturer began, noting that “students go to companies every week to learn how to solve real problems”.

‘I think this award is important to reinforce the path the university is taking. I don’t think it’s focussed on what I do alone, but on what the university has done. Students want to improve pedagogical approaches, we’ve improved a lot, but we still have a way to go,’ he finalised.

The School of Engineering congratulates Professor Rui Lima on this recognition!
