Tun’Obebes launches first Album in Guimarães

The Female Engineering Tuna of the University of Minho launches its first album in Guimarães

On December 13th, Tun’Obebes – the Female Engineering Tuna of the University of Minho – marked a historic moment with the launch of its first CD. This milestone represents not only the affirmation of its musical and cultural identity, but also the culmination of a collective work that unites several generations of tuna members, throughout more than three decades of history.

With over 30 years of history, Tun’Obebes is an institution deeply rooted in the academic and cultural tradition of Guimarães. It is the only all-female tuna group in the municipality, proudly carrying the name of Guimarães and the University of Minho beyond borders, with performances from north to south of the country and abroad.

More than representing the academy, Tun’Obebes represents Guimarães. Through music, costumes, irreverence, and tradition, it inspires young people from different backgrounds to value local culture. In many contexts, it is the first image of the Guimarães spirit for students, families, and communities — a vibrant, artistic, and genuinely cultural image that leaves its mark wherever it goes.

On September 20th, the Tuna released the first music video of an original song, which has already surpassed 27,000 views on the social media of the Municipality of Guimarães. A true glimpse into the experience of studying in Guimarães and at the University of Minho.

The School of Engineering proudly supported the production of this first album and congratulates Tun’Obebes on its journey and all its achievements.
