EEUM researchers win Best Presentation Award at AMMS 2025

During the 7th International Conference on Applied Mathematics, Modelling and Simulation (AMMS 2025), held between 24 and 26 September in Athens, the article entitled ‘Biologically-plausible classification via a Dynamic Neural Field Self-Organising Map’ was awarded the Best Presentation Award.

The work was authored by Paulo Barbosa, Flora Ferreira, Estela Bicho and Wolfram Erlhagen, and proposes an innovative and biologically plausible approach to data classification, based on self-organising maps and dynamic neural fields.

This recognition highlights the scientific excellence and quality of the authors’ presentation, reinforcing the impact of national research on the international scene of applied mathematics and artificial intelligence.

The School of Engineering congratulates the team!
