Professor of the Department of Informatics received Medal of the São Torcato Village

Paulo NovaisPaulo Novais, Full Professor of the Department of Informatics, received the Medal of the São Torcato Village for professional and academic merit. The medal was awarded in the Commemoration Ceremony of the 25 years of the elevation of São Torcato to Vila, in the past 21st. The session was attended by the Mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança, the President of the Municipal Assembly, José João Torrinha, the President of the Parish Council, Alberto Martins and the Rector of the University of Minho, Rui Vieira de Castro.

Paulo Novais is a Full Professor and researcher at the ALGORITMI Center of the School of Engineering, where he is also the leader of the research laboratory ISLab – Synthetic Intelligence group and coordinator of the research line on “”Ambient intelligence for well-being and Health Applications””. He has a PhD from the University of Minho since 2003 in Computer Science and has been an Aggregation in the field of Computer Science since 2011. He has participated and led several research projects funded by Portuguese and European public and private institutions and has supervised several PhD and MSc students. He is co-author of over 300 chapters, journals, papers and books. He is also President of APPIA (Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence) since 2016 and member of the executive committee of IBERAMIA (Ibero-American Society of Artificial Intelligence).
