Carla Soares and Victor Soares, administrative and management technicians from the School of Engineering, took part in the 6th International Staff Week at Dicle University in Diyarbakir, Turkey. The week, which ran from 27 April to 2 May, included various activities, such as:

– a presentation ceremony at Dicle University;

– a mini campus tour.

– sharing information about the participating institutions (presentations);

– cultural visits to Diyarbakır Old Town, the Grand Mosque, the City Walls, the Inner Castle, the Surp Giragos Church and the Hasanpaşa

– regional breakfasts and dinners;

– organisation and participation in an institution exhibition open to students and teachers and distribution/exchange of merchandise material.

– Visiting departments/units of the university.

Carla Soares and Victor Soares leave their testimony here, hoping that it will inspire other TAG members at the University of Minho to take advantage of these opportunities for professional and personal enrichment:

“It was definitely one of the best adventures of our lives, stepping out of our comfort zones and absorbing other cultures and ways of thinking and seeing the world. It was an intercultural journey where we acquired many lifelong skills.

We made friends, bonded with people and networked with institutions from Spain, Indonesia, Zambia, Italy, Poland, Moldova, Ukraine and Romania – a truly international experience. We recommend doing it at least once — there will be many more opportunities afterwards! :)”
