EEUM Students receive Merit Scholarships and Awards Caixa Mais Mundo

Three of UMinho’s seven students who were awarded the Caixa Mais Mundo prize at the UMinho Merit Scholarship ceremony are students of the School of Engineering: Hélder Vieira de Freitas Maia Martins, student of Physical Engineering, João Filipe da Costa Alves, student of Biomedical Engineering, and Derick Jorge Ramos Santos Fonseca, student of Civil Engineering, received a prize of 1500 euros each.

As regards scholarships for the academic year 2015/2016, of the 34 UMinho pupils to whom these scholarships were awarded, 11 were awarded to EEUM pupils. These are them: Jorge Manuel Fernandes Soares, student of the integrated master in Civil Engineering, Ana Paula Pinto da Silva, student of the integrated master in Biomedical Engineering, Fábio Rafael Correia Guerra Fontes, student of the integrated master in Informatics Engineering, Gintare Hermanaviciute, student of the integrated master in Design and Marketing, Susana Patrícia Chaves Costa, student of the integrated master in Bioengineering, Ana Alberta Ribeiro Pereira, student of the Integrated Master in Engineering and Management of Information Systems, Sofia Raquel Coelho Moreira, Ines de Sousa Martins, Mariana Morgado Alves Dias and Diana Filipa Fonseca Santiago students of the Degree in Design and Fashion Marketing, Hadeel Abdah, student of the Master in Engineering of Computer Networks and Telematic Services.

In reference to the 2016/2017 school year, 33 scholarships were awarded to students from UMinho, of which 11 were also destined to students from EEUM, namely Catalina José Santos de Almeida, student of the integrated master in Biomedical Engineering, Bruno Alexandre Oliveira de Faria, student of the integrated master in Engineering and Management of Information Systems, Ricardo Gonçalves Macedo, student of the integrated master in Informatics Engineering, Inês Varela Gomes, student of the integrated master in Mechanical Engineering, Luís Miguel Rodrigues de Freitas, student of the master in Urban Engineering, Renata Fernandes Oliveira, student of the master in Biotechnology, Fernando João Pereira da Cruz, student of the master in Bioinformatics, and Ana Margarida Ferreira Vasconcelos Oliveira, Barbara Daniela Martins Peixoto, Inês Araújo Castro, Isabela Casares Araújo, students of the degree in Design and Fashion Marketing.

There were also 11 EEUM students awarded one of the 34 merit scholarships for the 2017/2018 school year: Mariana Isabel dos Santos Rodrigues da Silva, student of the integrated master in Biomedical Engineering, Ricardo Manuel Santos Martins, student of the integrated master in Industrial Electronics and Computers Engineering, José Alexandre Gomes Lima da Silva, student of the integrated master in Mechanical Engineering, Carolina Reis Ribeiro Vidal Maia, student of the integrated master in Food Science and Technology, Joana Sofia Gomes da Costa, student of the integrated master in Biotechnology, Francisco José Torres Ribeiro, student of the integrated master in Informatics Engineering, Marta Sofia Costa Sampaio, student of the integrated master in Bioinformatics, Teresa Helena Ferreira de Faria Vila Mendes, student of the integrated master in Design and Fashion Communication, Patricia de Paula Azambuja, student of the integrated master in Design and Marketing of Textile Products, Clothing and Accessories, José Manuel da Silva Correia, student of the integrated master in Engineering and Information Systems, and Sofia Raquel Coelho Moreira, student of the integrated master in Design and Fashion Marketing.

Finally, of the 36 merit grants awarded to UMinho students for the academic year 2018/2019, 12 were awarded to EEUM students: Isabela Casares Araújo, student of the degree in Design and Fashion Marketing, Ana Catarina Martins Miranda, student of the integrated master in Polymer Engineering, Joana Margarida Miguel, student of the integrated master in Informatics Engineering, Mariana Cardoso Resende, student of the integrated master in Biotechnology, Vítor Emanuel Gonçalves Fernandes, student of the integrated master in Physical Engineering, Ana Lucia Kfouri Lancia, student of the integrated master in Urban Engineering, Marta Lopes Gomes, student of the integrated master in Bioinformatics, Rita Pinheiro Araújo Oliveira Antunes, student of the Master in Food Science and Technology, Ana Sofia Gonçalves Ribeiro, student of the Master in Micro/Nano Technologies, Joana Maria Alves da Silva, student of the integrated master in Biomedical Engineering, Cristiano António Azevedo Rodrigues, student of the integrated master in Industrial Electronics and Computers, and Gisela Maria Nogueira Fernandes, student of the integrated master in Engineering and Management of Information Systems.

The merit scholarships are designed to distinguish students who, in each curricular year, have achieved exceptional success, i.e. who have a weighted average of 16 or more in all the subjects making up the curricular year in question. The symbolic ceremony took place last 26 October at the Medieval Hall of Largo do Paço, in Braga, and distinguished 137 students with a scholarship equal to the tuition fee and the respective diploma and 7 students with the merit award “Caixa Mais Mundo”, with a unit value of 1500 euros.

The School of Engineering congratulates all these students and wishes them continued academic and professional success.
