The University of Minho (UMinho) will host, with the support of Portugal Government, a structure of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
The EIT Digital Braga Satellite was officially inaugurated in Braga on June 26th, in the gnration, by Robot Sawyer of the CAR- Control, Automation and Robotics Group of the ALGORITMI Center of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira, Minister of Planning, Nelson Souza, and Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor.
The EIT Digital Braga Satellite is the first shared center of the EIT to open in Portugal and has UMinho, DTx – Digital Transformation CoLab, INESC TEC – Institute of Systems Engineering and Computers, Technology and Science, BGI – Building Global Innovators and WaveCom and Bright Pixel companies as partners and will serve the entire country.
The main tasks of the new structure are: the involvement of partners in the scientific system and industry; the proactive search for opportunities for collaborative innovation, with an effective impact, by companies and universities in Portugal; to foster network activities between the business and academic communities in Portugal and the EIT Digital ecosystem, distributed throughout Europe. The purpose is to create conditions for mutual cooperation and alignment of partners’ programs.
