António Gomes Correia, professor emeritus of the Department of Civil Engineering of the School of Engineering of UMinho (EEUM), was appointed editor emeritus of “Transportation Geotechnics”, a scientific journal of international reference in this area.
António Gomes Correia founded and was editor for 10 years of this publication of the Elsevier group, which is among the most relevant in this field (quartile Q1, impact factor 6.2). In June 2026, the professor requested the termination of his duties, after a demanding phase in which the editorial management of more than 900 submissions of scientific articles during 2026 had been ensured. In October, Elsevier decided to invite him to be editor emeritus of “Transportation Geotechnics”.
“Throughout this decade, I have had the privilege of contributing to the creation, consolidation, growth and international recognition of the journal, with a commitment to quality and scientific rigor. It is with particular satisfaction that I receive this distinction and, in addition to its personal significance, it also brings the presence and contribution of UMinho in the international scientific community, reinforcing its visibility and prestige in an area of great importance”, said António Gomes Correia, who is also a researcher at the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE).
The Presidency of the EEUM congratulates Professor António Gomes Correia for this recognition, which honors his career and gives international projection to the scientific community of the EEUM.
