Contest promoted by CVR and EEUM appeals to circularity at Christmas

The CVR – Centre for Waste Valorisation, an interface of UMinho, with the support of the Municipality of Guimarães, the Landscape Laboratory and the School of Engineering of UMinho, received from November 15 to December 11 applications from schools, day care centers, day care centers and homes of Guimarães for a contest to create Christmas trees from textile and/or plastic waste.

The “More Sustainable Christmas: Waste as Raw Material” contest made the community aware of the issue of waste valorization and promoted more environmentally sustainable behaviors. The hall of building 1 of the Azurém campus hosted the exhibition of the 30 works submitted to the contest, which was open until January 6th, and the winning authors were announced on January 10th, at 4pm, at the CVR.

The Donim EB and the Padre Adelino Silva Social Center were the big winners in their category, receiving televisions, offered by Auchan de Guimarães and by Vimasol – Energias Renováveis, Lda. In the Children’s category, EB Motelo and EB Aula Conde won second and third place, respectively. In the Senior category, the Centro Social de Brito and Fundação Casa do Paço closed the podium.
