Francisca Vale Lima, a former master’s student in Information Systems Engineering and Management, won the ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ award, ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ & ๐๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, in the Portuguese Women in Tech Awards 2024.
The PWIT Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of women in the technology industry, recognising their valuable contributions in various categories that highlight their experience and impact. These awards showcase the diversity and talent of the Portuguese tech community, breaking down barriers and inspiring the next generation of women in tech.
In her own publication, Francisca Lima said: โThis recognition means a lot to me, not only because it celebrates my work and marks a personal milestone, but also because it reflects the incredible mentors, role models and colleagues who have supported, inspired and empowered me along the way.โ
In turn, Liliana Castro, co-founder of Portuguese Women in Tech, told ECO that โOver the years, the Portuguese Women in Tech Awards have evolved and more and more we have met fantastic women in technology with years of work to show for their quality and successโ, adding that โThis edition was no different and nine awards were handed out, after going through thousands of nominations, dozens of selected women and a jury that had a hard time finding the winner of each categoryโ.
The award aims to recognise the contributions of women professionals in the technology sector in categories such as best engineer, best product manager or best operations and innovation manager. Of the 27 finalists, nine were honoured. The ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ, ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ & ๐๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ category is sponsored by NTT Data.
Francisca Lima has been a Data Engineer at Adidas for over 2 years, having worked in various companies in roles related to Data Analysis, Data Engineering and Big Data.
At UMinho’s School of Engineering, Francisca Vale Lima was a member of AIS.SC UMinho (Association for Information Systems Student Chapter), the TSI@UMinho Student Centre, which belongs to EEUM’s Department of Information Systems (DSI), serving as President of the Supervisory Board and Secretary of the Board between 2014 and 2016.
