EEUM Alumna is the first female engineer to receive the Secil Engineering Prize

The XI Secil Civil Engineering Award was attributed by Secil and by the Order of Engineers to Marisa Ferreira, engineer of the structures project of the company Fase- Estudos e Projectos SA, for the authorship of the Lisbon Cruise Terminal project. For the first time in almost 30 years of the Secil Award’s history, this award, recognized as the civil engineering reference award in Portugal, is attributed to a woman.

“It is with immense pride that as an Engineer and a Woman, I receive this prestigious award considered as the greatest reference in the field of Civil Engineering in Portugal. I receive it on behalf of the team work of the Structures department of the company Fase-Estudos e Projectos SA”, declared Marisa Ferreira, underlining “(…) The presence and the role of the women in Engineering is undeniable that has been accentuated in the last years. There are many other female engineers with works of merit.”

These are some of the statements that our alumna of the Department of Civil Engineering made in the interview she granted to the Order of Engineers.

The School of Engineering congratulates Marisa Ferreira for this award and wishes her many other successes in her path.
