EEUM student wins prize at INNCYBER Innovation HUB

Henrique Faria, student of the Integrated Master in Computer Engineering of the School of Engineering of UMinho, won an award in the International Conference “INNCYBER Innovation HUB”, with his master’s dissertation “Lightweight + Post-Quantum Cryptography”, oriented by Professor José Valença.

The ceremony of the 2nd edition of the INNCYBER INNOVATION Prize took place on 26 October, at the Air Force Academy and 68 groups were registered, resulting in a total of more than 150 participants including students (62) and supervising professors (40) from 23 universities in Portugal, Spain and Brazil. The 2nd edition also counted with the participation of 49 researchers from 26 research centres in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Finland and USA.

The ceremony included interventions by Brigadier General Armando Barros (Director of Communication and Information Systems of the Air Force) and Professor Telmo Vieira (Managing Partner of Premivalor Consulting). The two winners of the 2nd Edition of the INNCYBER Innovation Prize were Henrique Faria, student of the Integrated Master in Computer Engineering of the School of Engineering, oriented by Professor José Valença with “Lightweight + Post-Quantum Cryptography” (Student Category) and Nuno Mateus-Coelho with “POSMASWEB – Paranoid Operating System Methodology for Anonymous & Secure Web Browsing” (PhD and Researcher Category).

The INNCYBER Innovation Prize is integrated in the INNCYBER: DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION, CYBER & IOT Innovation HUB. The projects that were in competition should focus on strategic areas of Digital Transformation, Cyber Defence, Cyber Resilience and Internet of Things (IoT).
