The Excellence Scholarships Award Ceremony of the University of Minho took place on June 3, at 3:30 pm, in the Medieval Hall of the Rectory building, in Largo do Paço, in Braga. 168 students were distinguished for their exemplary academic career, with a scholarship of pecuniary value equal to the tuition fee and the respective diploma.

The session included interventions by the Rector, Pedro Arezes, the Vice-Rector for Education and Academic Organization, Cristina Dias and the President of the Academic Association (AAUMinho), Luís Guedes. The musical moments were in charge of the UMinho Academic Choir. The initiative was broadcast on UMinho’s YouTube channel and the entire Academic Community was invited to watch the moment.

UMinho has been distinguishing with the Excellence Scholarship the students of all undergraduate and integrated master’s degrees who obtained the best application grade, in each year of the respective course, as long as it is equal to or greater than 17 points. This annual initiative began in 2012 and represents an accumulated investment of more than one and a half million euros, reflecting the particular way in which UMinho recognizes the work and academic path of its students.

The event also included the attribution of 39 Merit Scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, for UMinho students with exceptional performance in each curricular year, with a weighted average equal to or greater than 16 values. This scholarship has an annual value equal to five times the value of the guaranteed minimum monthly wage in force at the beginning of the academic year in which it is delivered.

The School of Engineering congratulates all eligible and awarded students in this edition.
