European Green Capital funds UMinho project

The project “Citizen-Led Accessible Environmental Routes/Personalised Accessible Routes for Health and Safety – CLEAR PATHS”, led by Giorgio Pace (School of Sciences, UMinho), Dalila Durães, Miguel Nóbrega (both from the School of Engineering, UMinho) and Andrea Ribeiro (Higher Institute of Health), has been approved for funding by the scientific committee of the Guimarães 26 – European Green Capital Mission Unit.

The project proposes the creation of an innovative system of smart routes that integrates environmental, urban and health data to promote safe and inclusive active mobility. The aim is to transform Guimarães into a “living laboratory”, in line with sustainability and climate neutrality objectives, based on the collection of data such as air quality, temperature, noise, green infrastructure and accessibility.
