“Everything you want to know about Engineering” enlightened more than 200 secondary school students

The UPA – Open Doors UMinho took place on May 18, 19 and 20 at UMinho’s Gualtar campus, with the School of Engineering welcoming around 1,200 pre-university students over these three days, from various schools in the Braga district, but also from Viana do Castelo, Porto, Aveiro, Viseu and Vila Real, in a total of 37 municipalities.

The potential future students of the School of Engineering were able to learn more about the 15 degrees on April 18 and 19 through various demonstrations that were always in operation at the EEUM stand, organized by the departments of Industrial Electronic Engineering, Biological Engineering, Polymer Engineering and Civil Engineering, as well as various visits to laboratories, experiments and lectures in the departments of Computer Science, Industrial Electronics, Biology, Mechanics and Production and Systems.

April 20 was the highlight of the School of Engineering’s program, with the A1 auditorium sold out for the Talks “What is a Junior Company? – Get to know EPIC”, by EPIC Júnior – UMinho’s Junior Engineering Company, and “Everything you want to know about Engineering”, in which students and alumni Alexandre Silva, Hugo Cunha, Diogo Arezes, Inês Faria, Filipe Portela, Hugo Neiva, Diana Martins, Clara Ribeiro and José Machado answered all questions about their paths and perspectives of Engineering at UMinho and in the job market, with Lígia Rodrigues (President of the EEUM Pedagogical Council) and Nelson Costa (EEUM public pre-university working group) as moderators.
