Informatics Engineering students bring this event to the city for the first time
The 14th Informatics Students National Meeting (ENEI) brought together 600 participants from all over the country on February 23, 24, 25 and 26, at the Altice Forum, in Braga, the city that received the initiative for the first time. It is one of the biggest technology events in Portugal and included reputable speakers, workshops, challenges, awards, social activities and an exhibition with the main start-ups, SMEs and multinationals in the area looking to attract talent for jobs and internships.
The opening session took place on the first day and was attended by the Dean of the School of Engineering, Pedro Arezes, the director of the Department of Informatics, Pedro Rangel Henriques, and representatives of the organizing committee and the CeSIUM Students Group, Francisco Lira, Catarina Machado and Nelson Estevão.
Jorge Ferreiro, from Eventbrite, Nikiforos Botis, from Amazon Web Services, Filipa Lacerda, from Zapier, and Pedro Moreira da Silva, from GitLab are some of the 30 speakers. The topics covered focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, data privacy, trends in apps and video games, remote work, smart homes and cities, customized and scaled logistics distribution, neuronal interfaces, open design, cloud computing, autonomous driving and entrepreneurship.
The four days in an educational, entertainment, knowledge transfer and networking environment also included a system of digital badges, the cultural quiz “Who wants to be computerized?”, Programming and security challenges “Catch the flag”, a peddy-paper around the city, bubble soccer sessions and evening gatherings.
