The SPM Prize on World Materials Day 2019 was awarded by the thesis of Ana Carina Ferreira Lopes, student of the Integrated Master in Polymer Engineering at EEUM, with the title “Study and evaluation of different combinations of virgin and processed PA material for Selective Laser Sintering technology”.

This thesis also competed for the “4th FEMS Master Thesis Competition“, framed in the EUROMAT congress, which this year took place online on July 14th, and was placed 2nd in a competition with 5 candidates.

The research involved the study and optimization of the reprocessing of polymeric material in SLS technology, through the application of theoretical forecasting algorithms, seeking the profit of the production process at an economic and sustainable level.
