António Gomes Correia, retired Professor from EEUM and Professor Emeritus from UMinho, was awarded the title of Honorary President of the Portuguese Geotechnical Society (SPG) in the evocative session of the 50th Anniversary of SPG, and integrated in the commemoration programme of the 75th anniversary of the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC, 25 November 2022).

This distinction was awarded for the prestigious services provided to SPG and to the geotechnical community, which in the specific case can be summarized by: member of the board of SPG 1988-1992; President of SPG 2004-2008; Editor of the journal Geotecnia since 2016; Lecture Manuel Rocha 2016; President of the Portuguese Commission of Geotechnics in Transport since 2012; Presidency of international Technical Committees; Presidency of the organization of several national and international geotechnical events, in particular the 6th and 12th National Geotechnical Congresses.”
