On 14 April, the University of Minho welcomed a delegation from the Mecwide Group, a leading provider of engineering services in the metalworking industry. The main aim of this visit was to strengthen collaboration between the two organisations, with a view to developing innovation projects in the field of data centres.
The Mecwide delegation – comprising André Pinto (CEO), Rita Monteiro (executive director), Luís Reis (member of the executive board) and Jorge Monteiro (head of data centres) – was received at the Azurém campus in Guimarães by the UMinho Vice-Rector for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Transfer, Raúl Fangueiro. Also present on behalf of the University were the Vice-President of the School of Engineering, Hélder Puga, researchers Paulo Novais, Luís Alves, João Pedro Mendonça and José Sena-Cruz, as well as Ana Lima from the Centre for Computer Graphics (CCG/ZGDV), Eduardo Bacelar Pinto and João Bessa (Fibrenamics), and David Silva, coordinator of the Special Projects Office.
The programme included visits to the CCG/ZGDV, the Institute for Innovation in Fibrous and Composite Materials (Fibrenamics) and the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Engineering Structures (ISISE), with demonstrations of their respective technologies.
