Afonsina – Tuna de Engenharia da Universidade do Minho brought the Cidade Berço – Festival of Academic Tunas back to the city of Guimarães.

Since its first edition in 1999, Cidade Berço – Festival de Tunas Académicas has made it possible to present to the Guimarães and Minho communities the experiences, customs and traditions of various tunas in our country, accompanied by the musicality that characterises these student groups. The success of this event has been reflected in the city’s growing participation in the two-day celebrations. More than 200 participants have been graced with an impressive turnout in the Largo da Oliveira and the Grande Auditório of the Vila Flor Cultural Centre, which promotes the quality of the show they produce.

In addition to the host tuna and four cultural groups from the Minho academy, this year tunas from Lisbon, Covilhã and Viseu took part.

The event was divided into two distinct moments:

– Friday 1 March, at 9.30pm, in the Historic Centre of Guimarães: Serenade Night with free admission and the participation of the competing and non-competing tunas.

– Saturday 2 March, at 9.30pm, in the Grande Auditório of the Vila Flor Cultural Centre: Show Night with the participation of the host tuna and the competing tunas.
