Madalena Alves is the new director of the Centre of Biological Engineering

Madalena Alves, Full Professor at the Department of Biological Engineering at the School of Engineering, took office as director of the Center of Biological Engineering. The management team is also composed by Lígia Rodrigues and Lucília Domingues, Associate Professors with Aggregation of DEB, and Nuno Cerca, Principal Investigator with Aggregation of CEB, as assistant directors.

In the inauguration speech, Madalena Alves reveals that establishing the Center as an Associated Laboratory and renovating the facilities and equipment are the main objectives of newly-elected direction team, which took office for the 2020-2023 triennium.

Operating in the areas of biotechnology and bioengineering for the environmental, health, industrial and food sectors, CEB is one of the most dynamic research centers in the country and is integrated in the School of Engineering of the University of Minho. CEB has more than 400 researchers and a large number of projects and research work.
