Graduates of the Integrated Master’s in Industrial Management and Engineering will now have a photo in the new gallery
The Department of Production and Systems (DPS) marked its 44th anniversary on march 4. The opening session was attended by the Dean of the School of Engineering, Pedro Arezes, the Director of the Department, Maria Sameiro Carvalho and the member of the organizing committee of this event, Lino Costa. The “DPS Day”, this year under the theme “Engineering to project the Future: skills and the job market”, included a set of initiatives, including workshops, awards and the opening of the Gallery of Graduates of Industrial Management and Engineering.
“This is an initiative of the course cordinators and aims to value students who graduated last year and seal a commitment to these students in order to maintain a close connection, both at this time and even in the future, promoting projects with companies where they currently work and receiving feedback on the needs of the companies… And therefore, with this objective in mind, we opened this Gallery today and this was the moment to bring the students here together to communicate this initiative to them”, says Maria Sameiro Carvalho, Director of DPS.
The round table, under the same theme, was attended by Alexandre Mendes, from Startup Braga, by Ana Paula Marques, Professor in the Department of Sociology of Institute of Social Sciences of UMinho, Fernando Alexandre, Professor in the Department of Economics at School of Economics and Management, Francisco Duarte, Altran and Manuel Carvalho da Silva, Researcher at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, moderated by Fernando Romero, Assistant Professor at DPS. For Maria Sameiro Carvalho, “it was a very interesting moment in a discussion about technical concerns and competences, but also about social concerns”.
