– An initiative called “Via Verde I&D” has been created and is led by EEUM and intends to interact with the productive fabric of Guimarães, to speed up an easy and fruitful interaction in the fields of R&D and other technological challenges, including support for the development and certification of new products/services.
– Covid-19 infection screening app in Portugal developed by HASLab-EEUM and INESC-TEC – UP researchers: It does not have a name or launch date yet, but the application being developed for covid-19 screening in Portugal has a well defined purpose at the outset: it will be voluntary and a tool to help health professionals not only during the pandemic, but also already in a return to normality scenario. This application, which is part of the Monitorcovid19.pt initiative, as explained by Professor Rui Oliveira, professor at the School of Engineering of the University of Minho and administrator of the Institute for Systems and Computers Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), is being developed at the institute in Porto, in partnership with the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP). “The main objective of the application, this system, which combines an application but also information available on the Internet is exclusively to help health professionals to track infected people”.

– An application for the Special Support to Research4 COVID-19 projects program was successfully submitted for “Development of spaces for large-scale UV-C sterilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in hospitals for their reuse”. The researcher in charge is Andrea Zille, from the 2C2T Research Center – Center for Science and Textile Technology of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho. The project started on May 4th, and the team is currently in collaboration with the Hospital Pedro Hispano of Matosinhos, developing a UV-C disinfection room in order to be able to reuse the protective masks and other PPEs. The project also provides a series of microbiological tests (on bacteria and viruses) to assess the proper functioning of the system. The masks, after each cycle and use, will also be tested to assess whether the filtration efficiency is maintained, in collaboration with CITEVE.
