On 30 January, the Azurém campus of the University of Minho hosted an exhibition and live demonstration of 15 projects developed by the 3rd year students of the degree in Industrial Electronics and Computers, as part of the Integrating Project course.
These projects, which were on display during the day in the central nave, were developed by the students over the course of the semester, in groups of 3 to 5 students, testing their creativity, innovative capacity and skills in the learning areas of the semester, culminating in the presentation of a prototype focusing on the following characteristics:
» Functionalities that make it useful and competitive;
» Possibility of being produced at affordable and competitive costs;
» Safe use;
» High reliability;
» Certification study, if it is aimed at areas that require certification;
» Adequate documentation for the production process, maintenance and further development.
Each group of students exhibited their work, with public and functional demonstrations of the prototype. Posters, videos of how the projects worked and all the supporting material were also on display. During the day, the public and the teachers of the course visited the exhibition, asking the necessary questions to assess the projects.
These were some of the projects on show:
– Distortion pedal for guitar and amplifier;
– Battery analyser;
– Walkie-talkie;
– Robotic arm;
– 3D-printed servo-motor robotic hand;
– Line-following car;
– Wired Hand Controlled Robot;
– (Macro)particle accelerator;
– Home automation;
– Smart Windshield Automatic System;
– Induction charging;
– Umbrella with humidity sensor;
– Greenhouse with refrigeration and sensors;
– Temperature control;
– Remote-controlled car.
This exhibition was an opportunity for students to showcase their work and skills to teachers, other students and the general public. The School of Engineering congratulates all the students and teachers involved in this initiative!
