On the 13th and 14th February the Habilitation exams of Associate Professor of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho, José Luís da Silva Pinho, in the knowledge branch of Civil Engineering took place, having been approved unanimously by the Jury members.

The exams took place in the Hall of Acts of the Azurém campus, having as President of the Jury Dr. Paulo António Alves Pereira, Full Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho, and as members Dr. Fernando Francisco Machado Veloso Gomes, Full Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto; Dr. Francisco de Almeida Taveira Pinto, Full Professor of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto; Doctor José Manuel de Saldanha Gonçalves Matos, Full Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geo-Resources of the Higher Technical Institute of the University of Lisbon; Doctor Dídia Isabel Cameira Covas, Full Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geo-Resources of the Higher Technical Institute of the University of Lisbon; and Doctor José Manuel Pereira Vieira, Full Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho.

The degree of Habilitation is awarded to professors with a professional curriculum of high merit who demonstrate a relevant activity at the level of research, training or advanced supervision, and the authorship of scientific papers of recognized quality after obtaining a doctoral degree.
