Roadmap for Innovation passed through UMinho’s Azurém campus

The Roadmap for Innovation of the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N) passed on September 21 through the municipality of Guimarães, to learn about projects of excellence in the areas of science, sustainability and urban regeneration.

The program started at 10:00 am at the University of Minho, on the Azurém campus, more specifically at Deucalion and the future Data Center, and continued at the Landscape Laboratory. In the afternoon, it focused on the rehabilitation of the industrial heritage of the Alto Factory and the Arquinho Factory (planned to host the Aerospace Engineering area of UMinho, among others), with a press point there at 5:00 pm. The day aimed to strengthen proximity to the territory and to highlight concrete examples of economic and environmental value creation in the Northern Region.

The president of CCDR-N, Álvaro Santos, and his vice-presidents included the president of the Municipality of Guimarães, Ricardo Araújo, and officials from the Rectory of UMinho, among others, in an action to value the role of cooperation between universities, companies and local entities to boost the competitiveness of the region. It was announced that Guimarães has 90 projects supported by Norte 2030, with a total investment of 113 million euros, of which 61 million from community funds.
