On 15 March, the Presidency of the School of Engineering at the University of Minho awarded the first scholarship as part of the AcTex – Academia do Têxtil (Textile Academy) vocational training project. AcTex is run by large companies in the textile sector and arises from the need for specialised labour with higher qualifications for the companies.

Recognising the importance of promoting higher education in the textile sector, AcTex has started awarding scholarships to meritorious students entering the first year of their degree in Textile Engineering at the University of Minho.
