EEUM Employment Days reach record number of offers

The School of Engineering’s Job Days – Tomorrow Needs You took place on 28 February and 1 March. The 10th edition of this event brought more than 4000 career opportunities to the School of Engineering students and alumni, provided by 75 companies/entities registered at the event, from the most varied sectors of activity.

The programme opened on Tuesday, at 10.30am, with a round table that brought together the vice-president of the Order of Engineers, Lídia Santiago; the associate director for the Personnel area at Deloitte, Sara Rodrigues; and the professor of leadership and high performance at the School of Psychology at UMinho, Rui Gomes, moderated by the vice-president of the School of Engineering, Professor Raúl Fangueiro. This debate focused on the new work models, the challenges of human resources management and the attraction and retention of talent, looking at the new generation of candidates.

Also in the morning, the new Tomorrow Needs Engineering platform was publicly presented, a platform developed by EPIC Júnior – Junior Engineering Company of UMinho, which allows companies to publish their offers for short and long term internships, dissertation projects in company among other opportunities for collaboration with the students of the School of Engineering, enabling a closer approach of the student layer with the business fabric since their entry into academia.

From 2pm, the public could get to know the career proposals of Apgar Consulting, BorgWarner, Continental Mabor, Grupo Casais, Petrotec, Cegid Primavera, Navigator, Vestas, ZF and CEiiA.

On March 1st, the participating companies and entities disclosed their job, internship and research opportunities, interacting with students, graduates and other interested parties, from 10am to 6pm at the stands located along the hall of building 1 of the campus. The opening of this business showcase included a visit by representatives of the Guimarães City Hall, the Order of Engineers, InvestBraga and elements of the Presidency of the School of Engineering and Interfaces of UMinho, as well as the performance of the Tun’Obebes, the female students’ musical group of engineering.

“The Employment Days are an event of great relevance for EEUM’s action in its multiple aspects, especially in its relationship with society and companies. The more than 4000 job offers are an indicator of the relevance of UMinho’s training in the various branches of Engineering, resulting in high demand from its students”, says Raul Fangueiro.
