The new direction of the Department of Biological Engineering for the biennium 2022/2024 took place on 12 October, in the meeting room of the DEB, in Gualtar. Armando Venâncio was elected department director, with Mariana Henriques as deputy director.

The ceremony was attended by several members of the department, as well as by the Biological Engineering centre.

In his speech, the president of the School of Engineering, Professor Pedro Arezes, mentioned that despite the difficulties there are processes that lead the Presidency to “some optimism”, namely the opening of competitions and the possibility of hiring more teachers for the school, and of course, for the department. The president of the School of Engineering also expressed total openness and availability to support the new directive team in whatever it may feel the need.
