CEB is present at the Science and Technology Week with a diversified program

At the Gualtar campus, the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) of EEUM received during the week of November 22-29 about 130 students from primary and secondary schools in the region, namely on the 24th in the morning and 26th in the afternoon. On the 25th, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, in building 16 of the School of Engineering, it was the little ones’ turn to observe microbes under the microscope and how they live and feed. Also on that day there were online workshops that led 3rd cycle and high school students to learn about the microalgae Chlorella, a superfood with more than twenty vitamins and minerals, and to learn how to assemble a microbial fuel cell. The CEB scientists also shared their experiments this week in several schools in the district.

On Saturday morning, November 27, citizens in general were also challenged to go to the CEB to see the discoveries in the areas of food, environment, industry and health; it was also possible to take a virtual tour, at ceb.uminho.pt/About/VirtualTour. The program did not forget EEUUMinho’s own biotechnology and bioengineering students – four dozen laboratory workshops and a science communication training session were held, with soft skills that can help in their professional future.
