Engineering Project Management Workshop brings together students and professionals

On January 18, the Engineering Project Management Workshop was held on the campus of Azurém, an initiative of the master’s degree in Engineering Project Management (MGPE), involving the departments of Production and Systems, Civil Engineering and Information Systems Engineering integrated in the School of Engineering of UMinho.

The opening session was attended by Rosa Vasconcelos, chair of the Pedagogical Council of EEUM, João Álvaro Carvalho, director of the Department of Information Systems of EEUM and Anabela Tereso, Department of Production and Systems of EEUM and board of directors of MGPE.

During the morning several proposals of dissertation of the students of the second year of MGPE were presented, followed by their lectures presented by a student and a former student of MGPE.

The afternoon session began with two other lectures: “The Mandala of Risks: An Integrated Management Model” with Hélio Rodrigues Costa, Ph.D. in Computer Systems Engineering: focus on Risk Management, teacher, consultant, founder of Risk Pro and project management officer of the UMinho-Bosch partnership and “How I came to project manager” with Tiago Mateus, senior engineer for development project management of Bosch Car Multimedia, PMP certificate.

This was followed by the presentation of APOGEP (Portuguese Association for Project Management), by Paulo Sousa, program manager and claim manager at EFACEC, coordinator of APOGEP – Núcleo Norte, Master in Engineering Project Management, and the lecture “Management of megaprojects in the mining industry – the case of Vale SA ” with Alexandre Meirelles, Vale S.A.

In the closing session was José Cardoso Teixeira, director of the Department of Civil Engineering of EEUM and directorate of the master’s degree in Engineering Project Management.
