From May 21 to 23 EXPOBIOTEC 2019, the largest national event in the biotechnology sector took place at the Campus of Gualtar of the University of Minho.

The first day was dedicated to 500 secondary school students, who had the opportunity to get to know the CEB laboratories as well as to carry out some experiments, and even understand better the profession of Biological Engineer of the Future.

On the 2nd day, it was possible to attend several Flash Presentations of business associations, clusters and professional orders, among them, from ANJE, BLC3, Health Cluster, Order of Engineers, P-Bio and Portugal Foods. The DEB students also had moments of interaction with several companies, such as Águas do Norte, AEnergy, Brasmar, Campicarn, CIN, VentilAQUA and XPECTRALTEK, among others, in “speed-meetings”, which took place on the morning and afternoon. The program of this 2nd day, that culminated with a Green of Honor, also included the presentation of Bio TecNorte: “Biotechnology for the sustainable development of the bioeconomy of Northern Portugal”.

The 3rd and final day started with Manuel Firmino’s Workshop, which brought some advice on how to “know how to be in an interview”, followed by several other workshops in a wide range of companies / associations such as Merck, TecMinho, Bluepharma, and IBM Corporation, attracting great interest and enthusiasm from students.

The event was organized by the Center and the Department of Biological Engineering of EEUM, with the support of the Nucleus of Students of Biological Engineering of the University of Minho and the Order of Engineers.
