Marwin Segler presents keynote lecture at Bioinformatics Open Days

Event organized by the students, NEBIUM and the direction of the Master of Bioinformatics is already in its 9th edition.

The Bioinformatics Open Days 2020 took place on the past 19th, 20th and 21st of February at the Gualtar campus, in Braga, giving the academic community free access to the keynote lecture of the event.

The lecture was given by Dr. Marwin Segler, from BenevolentAI (London, UK) who spoke about “Machine Learning for Molecular Design and Chemical Synthesis”. This represented a unique opportunity to learn about advances in the field of Artificial Intelligence applied to the discovery of drugs, by a top researcher in the field, who currently works in one of the most vibrant companies in this field.

Bioinformatics Open Days is a student-led initiative, first held at Universidade do Minho, Braga in 2012. It aims to promote the exchange of knowledge between students, teachers and researchers from the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology fields.
