The School of Engineering participated in the UPA Digital program, on the 22nd, 25th, 30th of June and 1st of July. The initiative, in co-organization with the University of Minho, enabled high school students, parents, teachers and vocational advisers to interact directly with the community of the academy. In this edition, and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the format took place entirely online via Zoom and social networks.
“UPA Digital” started each day with the welcome of the Pro-Rector for Student Affairs and Pedagogical Innovation, Manuel João Costa, and the inspiring message of a student-athlete, respectively André Coelho (Civil Engineering, futsal), Ercília Machado (Chemical and Biologic Engineering, athletics) with Diogo Branquinho (Textile Engineering, handball) and Rui Bragança (Medicine, taekwondo).
The School of Engineering, under the theme “#EXPLORARENGENHARIA”, organized the sessions “Industry – Design, Materials and Process Engineering”, “TICE – Information Technologies, Communication and Electronics”, “BIOS – Biotechnology, Health and Environment” and “Talking about Innovation and Development with EEUM Engineers”, respectively. Over the days, professors, researchers, students, student groups, alumni and EEUM staff-members shared experiences and answered questions about the academic reality and the challenges posed during each course.
