Carlos Zorrinho and Braz Costa at the Production and Systems Department Day

The MEP and Director-General of CITEVE spoke this Wednesday afternoon in Guimarães.

Carlos Zorrinho, MEP and full professor, and António Braz Costa, director general of technology centers CITEVE and CeNTI, participated on the 30th, in the 46th anniversary of the Department of Production and Systems (DPS) of the University of Minho. The event began at 14h00, in the main auditorium of the Azurém campus, in Guimarães, and had the motto “Reindustrialization: What Future?”

The opening session included the president of the School of Engineering of UMinho, Pedro Arezes and the director of DPS, Maria Sameiro Carvalho. This was followed by a workshop with eight practical cases developed in the context of the DPS master’s degrees and, at 16h00, the intervention of guest speakers, Carlos Zorrinho (by video call) and António Braz Costa.

At 5:15 pm, the Best Masters Dissertation Awards, EGIUM Alumni Award and ASQ Student Branch Award were presented. The program also included the cutting of the cake and a visit to the hall of fame in honor of the graduates of Industrial Engineering and Management, in room 2.55 of building 11 of the campus.

The “DPS Day” reflected this year on reindustrialization in the context of European and Portuguese recovery in the post-pandemic and of competitive affirmation in the world, based on more resilient economies and on the control of global supply chains adjusted to current challenges and risks.
