The secretary of the Resilience Engineering Association, Pedro Ferreira, and the presidents of the Portuguese and Brazilian Ergonomics associations, Teresa Cotrim and Lucy Mara Baú respectively, will open the 1st Luso-Brazilian Seminar on Resilience Engineering this Thursday. The initiative took place on 28 September, online, and featured a dozen guest speakers.

Under discussion were 20 years of theory and practice in this emerging sector, as well as the evolution of resilience concepts in organisations and their methodologies and practical applications. The event was part of the PhD programme in Industrial and Systems Engineering, which is the result of collaboration between the School of Engineering at the University of Minho (EEUM), the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, the Faculty of Human Motricity in Lisbon and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. The closing session featured a speech by the president of EEUM, Pedro Arezes.
