“Projeto e Seleção de Componentes Mecânicos” is the title of the new book by the professor of Mechanical Engineering at EEUM, which is in pre-release by Quantica Publishing.
This book presents the fundamentals for the design and selection of mechanical components, as a form of operative systematization, understanding of operation and explanation of performance conditions. Structured so as to progressively introduce the different topics and the indispensable theoretical analyses, this book covers a wide range of mechanical components, accompanied by solved application exercises, covering traditional subjects in general mechanics, automotive, aeronautics, mechatronics, but also biomechanics and biomedicine, of which prosthetics, medical devices and rehabilitation are examples.
Paulo Flores was born in Vieira do Minho on December 19, 1972. He obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minho in 1997, followed by Scientific-Pedagogical Examinations (2000), PhD (2005) and Habilition (2011) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minho. In 2009, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH-Zurich, and in 2010, he was Visiting Professor at The University of Arizona. He has been working at the University of Minho for 25 years, where his topics of interest in teaching and scientific research are linked to the areas of Dynamics of Mechanical Systems, Design and Selection of Mechanical Components, Mechanical Contact and Biomechanics.
Full Professor since 2013, he is the author of numerous scientific and pedagogical publications.
