UMinho with 75 activities during Science and Technology Week

The University of Minho had 75 activities open to the public during Science and Technology Week, which ran from November 18 to 24 across the country. The program aimed to bring society closer to science, show the daily lives of researchers and encourage young people to pursue scientific and technological areas. At the Minho academy there were several hundred entries, mainly from schools, and the stages were spread across Braga, Guimarães, Vila Verde and online.

Among the various activities were those organized by the Landscape Laboratory, Curtir Ciência, the School of Science and the School of Engineering of UMinho, which on the 21st and 22nd showed the refurbished Ribeira da Costa/Couros and its historical and environmental role for Guimarães. The program in the city included two lectures, water monitoring and the identification of microplastics and ecosystem restoration solutions.

The School of Engineering’s Center for Biological Engineering offered a talk on biotechnology in our daily lives on the 18th at 5pm at FNAC Braga; on the 20th, lectures and an exhibition with its scientists at the House of Knowledge in Vila Verde and online at the Houses of Knowledge Network; on the 22nd, laboratory activities for little scientists; and a continuous virtual tour on its website.
