Under the theme “Engineering for a Sustainable Future”, the School of Engineering at the University of Minho hosted VEM 2024 – Experience UMinho, welcoming 32 high school students from the Minho region, selected for their outstanding academic performance in the 11th and 12th grades.
This year’s activities focused on three key themes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- Health and Quality of Life
- Cities, Consumption, and Responsible Production
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions and explored real-world challenges in collaboration with researchers at the School of Engineering’s research centers. These activities highlighted the cross-disciplinary nature of engineering careers and their critical role in addressing global issues such as sustainability, innovation, and well-being.
Through VEM 2024, the School of Engineering continues to inspire young talent, offering them a unique opportunity to envision their future in engineering and its transformative potential for society
