EEUM researchers take part in Greenfest

Over the weekend of 27-29 September, the University of Minho hosted Greenfest for the first time, ‘the biggest sustainability event in the country’. There were three days full of activities for kids and adults, such as conferences, workshops, showcookings, shows, ecomarket, nature activities and wellness sessions.

The programme was free to enter and took place in the hall and B1/B2 auditoriums of building 2 on the Gualtar campus in Braga. The initiative aimed to inspire and educate about sustainable practices, exploring them in their many dimensions. It also sought to promote environmental awareness and commitment to a greener and more responsible future. Among the topics covered were climate change, the circular economy, sustainable construction, entrepreneurship, healthy living, generosity and green culture.

Among the participants on the first day were the Pro-Rectors Sandra Paiva, Miguel Bandeira, Teresa Ruão and Guilherme Pereira, the presidents of the Schools of Engineering and Architecture, Art and Design, Pedro Arezes and Paulo Cruz respectively, the director of the Centre for Waste Recovery, Cândida Vilarinho, the director of the Landscape Laboratory, Carlos Ribeiro, and the deputy for Education, Innovation and Social Cohesion of the Municipality of Braga, João Medeiros.

Other teachers and researchers included Teresa Heath, Rita Sousa (School of Economics and Management), Alessandra Silveira, Marta Santos Silva (School of Law), Cláudia Pascoal (School of Sciences), Luís Dourado (Institute of Education), Paula Encarnação (School of Nursing), Tiago Silva (3B’s Institute), Mariana Gonçalves (School of Psychology), Pedro Morgado (School of Medicine), Ana Bessa de Carvalho (School of Letters, Arts and Human Sciences), António Marques, José Sena Cruz and Raúl Fangueiro (School of Engineering).

Greenfest Braga is part of the actions of the European Green Deal and has the support of ten and a half organisations, including the Ministry of Culture, Sociedade Ponto Verde, REN, RTP and INL.
