Solfarcos, BIOFABICS and Cozecare distinguished in the 4th edition of the National Innovation Award

Solfarcos, Biofabics, and Cozecare were distinguished in the 4th edition of the National Innovation Award.

SOLFARCOS -Soluções Farmacêuticas e Cosméticas, Lda., a UMinho spin-off founded by members of the EEUM, won the Sustainability and Social Impact category with an innovative nanotechnological platform for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, capable of significantly reducing the dose of medication required and its side effects.

BIOFABICS – 3D Biotissue Analogues, founded by former EEUM PhD student Pedro Costa, received an Honorable Mention in the Cybersecurity, Sovereignty and Defense category, thanks to the development of nanofiber membranes applied to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection equipment.

COZECARE, founded by a former student of Industrial Engineering and Management, also received an Honorable Mention in the “Sustainability and Social Impact” category at the 2026 National Innovation Awards.

In all, 116 applications were submitted, which made it possible to distinguish 13 projects and award 10 honorable mentions.
